Sweden’s selection method for Eurovision, Melodifestivalen, remains one of the most anticipated national finals each year. Today it’s been announced by Swedish fan blog ESC Panelen, and confirmed by the broadcaster, that SVT received 2295 entries for its 2019 edition.
A committee will now work through all entries and whittle those down to the 28 entries for the live shows.
Dates have already been announced with tickets for the rehearsals and live shows on sale on October 31st.
Melodifestivalen remains one of the largest selection shows for Eurovision with a high number of songs being submitted year after year. The artists are expected to be announced early November.
One duo, however, have already been confirmed. The electro-pop duo, Lovers of Valdaro (see picture), entered the competition after emerging winners of P4 Nästa. Their song will also be revealed in due course.
Last year, Benjamin Ingrosso won Melodifestivalen with Dance You Off, therefore representing Sweden in the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest.
He finished 7th with 274 points in the grand final.
